Cranberry Cup Rules

1.  GENERAL

 

All Games will be played in accordance with WYSA rules and FIFA except as noted below.

 

2.  ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS

 

A. Coaches are responsible for ensuring the eligibility of their players. All teams’ rosters must be submitted at check-in and all players must meet the eligibility requirements specified under B and C below. The tournament is Open only to Club Select teams and/or NPSL teams.  No Premier teams will be allowed. Competitive Recreational teams can apply but will be allowed to enter only by Registrar’s discretion. 


B. Ages of Players

Under 11       Born August 1st, 2000 to July 31st, 2001

Under 12       Born August 1st, 1999 to July 31st, 2000

Under 13       Born August 1st, 1998 to July 31st, 1999

Under 14       Born August 1st, 1997 to July 31st, 1998

Under 15       Born August 1st, 1996 to July 31st, 1997

Under 16       Born August 1st, 1995 to July 31st, 1996

Under 17       Born August 1st, 1994 to July 31st, 1995

Under 18       Born August 1st, 1993 to July 31st, 1994

 

C. Players must be registered with WYSA. 


D. Up to five (5) guest players are allowed on each team. All guest players must be of the correct age division or younger. Guest players on a premier team for the 2011-20012 season are not allowed except with special permission from the Tournament Director.  Our goal is to have like competitors on the fields together for evenly matched, fun games.


E. Failure to prove eligibility or falsifying eligibility of player(s) will result in the team(s) expulsion from the tournament and forfeiture of all games that the team won or tied. That team shall have all games recorded as losses by a score of 0-1.


F. The Tournament Roster must be verified by the participating team’s “Club Registrar” to be valid. Coaches must sign the team’s roster at check-in to certify the eligibility of the players.

 

3.  TEAM CHECK IN PROCEDURE

 

A.     Tournament Headquarters will be determined by November 1, 2011

 

B.   A coach or team representative from each team MUST check in at the tournament headquarters at least one hour prior to their first game. At that time you must submit a final roster signed by your club or association registrar. The roster shall include player’s full name, date of birth and jersey number. If you have a guest player please indicate this next to their name. Failure to provide a final roster can result in forfeiting your game/s. No change in your roster will be allowed after the start of your first game.

 

C.   At check in you will receive your team packet, at that time you will be asked to sign that you have received these rules and agree to abide by them.

 

D.  At tournament headquarters you will find: team check-in, first aid, disciplinary, complaints, protests, lost & found and general assistance with questions.

 

E.  Please observe all posted field rules.  NO DOGS/PETS will be allowed on the athletic fields (exception only for service dogs). It is the responsibility of each team to remove all of their debris from the field after each game. Garbage cans will be place at each field.  No food is allowed on turf fields. Absolutely no liquids except water will be allowed on the game turf.  This includes coffee! No portable heater units will be allowed on the turf.

 

F.  Spectators shall remain at least three (3) yards away from the touchlines and away from the areas behind the goal lines.  If games are played at a field with bleachers ALL parents should sit on the bleachers and not stand on the field turf or track area. 

 

G.  Field Marshals will be utilized, should you have any questions contact one of them. In the case of an emergency on the field contact a field marshal or headquarters immediately. Field Marshals love to receive compliments. If there is a problem or issue you wish to discuss concerning the tournament, direct this to staff at headquarters. Field Marshalls will be monitoring spectators for inappropriate or unsportsmanlike comments or behavior.

 

H. Addresses and directions for fields will be posted on the website by November 19th.

 

4. GAMES

 

A.  Each team will be play a minimum of three (3) games. All games will be 2 30 minute halves with a 5 minute break. All games count for points. Groups will play a round robin format, with a championship game. Finalists will be determined by points

 

B.  Preliminary games will be on a point system; maximum 10 points per game:

6 points for a win

3 points for a tie

0 points for a loss

1 point for each goal scored, maximum of 3

1 point for a shut out (if 0—0 each team will be awarded the shut out point)

8 points awarded for a forfeit

1 point will be deducted from the team in the event that a player has received a “red card” for violent conduct and it is upheld by Disciplinary.  In event of a point tie, teams advance based on:

Head to head

Goals against

Goals for (max of 3 per game D)

Coin flip

 

C. All final games will be played to a winner. If score is tied at end of game, FIFA taking of kicks will be used to determine winners (no overtime).

 

D.  Ball Size:  U11 & U12 – Size 4

                   U13 to U18 – Size 5

 

E.  In the event games are postponed because of weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, the Tournament Director shall reschedule the games at the earliest possible date and time during the tournament weekend.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE in the event games must be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.  No games will be rescheduled following the tournament weekend.

 

5. AWARDS

 

A.  Participation pins will be awarded to all rostered players.

B.  Champions will receive individual medallions. Finalist will receive individual awards.  If feasible, awards will be presented immediately after end of last game on the playing field. If unfeasible, please bring your team to the Tournament HQ for a presentation of awards.

 

 

6. RULES

 

A.       This tournament shall be held in accordance with WSYSA Rules and Regulations and WSYSA District II Rules and Procedures except where noted. If there are any questions on these rules a set will be maintained at headquarters for view.

B.       The referees shall have total control of their fields during their assigned matches.

 

C.  Each coach will be personally responsible for the proper conduct of their team, including players, parents, guests and staff, as well as himself or herself. Abusive behavior toward referees, opponents, tournament staff, etc. will not be tolerated. Any such actions are grounds for immediate individual or team removal from the tournament facilities.

 

D.  All teams will have matching uniforms; each player will have an identifiable (unique) number on his/her jersey. Exception, goalkeepers will not be required to have numbers on jersey.

 

E.  Teams may have a maximum of 18 players. 14 players for U11 teams.

 

F.   The team listed first on the schedule is designated as the “home” team and will take the north or east side of the field and will change jerseys in the event of color conflict. The “visitors” must take the opposite side of field, this includes all spectators where bleachers are not available.

 

F.  Both teams will provide a regulation game ball for each match.

 

G.  No player may compete for more than one team.

 

H.  Unlimited substitutions will be allowed with the consent of the referee at any stoppage of play.

 

7.  DISCIPLINARY AND PROTEST

 

A.   The Tournament Director or designee shall adjudicate all yellow/red cards, protests, disputes or abandoned games; and shall be empowered to issue appropriate penalties necessary to obtain compliance with the spirit and purposes of the tournament, up to and including disqualification of any offending player/team from further participation. This decision shall be

final. Note: that game sit-out sanctions that cannot be satisfied at this tournament may carry over to the next WSYSA sanctioned event and/or league play.

 

B.   Notification of intent to protest must be made to the tournament headquarters table within 30 minutes after the end of match in question. Protests will only be considered if the outcome of the game is affected, the use of an illegal player, or a misapplication of the laws of the game. All

protests must be in writing and accompanied by $25 (cash only), refundable only if protest is upheld.

 

C.  Any player accumulating two (2) cautions (upheld) shall sit the next game in the tournament. Any player receiving a red card (upheld) will miss the team’s next game (and any further sanction given by Disciplinary).

 

D.  Player/Coach will have opportunity to request an in-person review of any misconduct by contacting headquarters staff within one-hour of end of game in which offense occurred. Timing of hearing will be determined by the Disciplinary Designee at his/her discretion but will be prior to start of next game.

 

E.  All player and team misconduct reports will be sent to WSYSA at completion of the tournament.

 

F.  Any pending sit-out requirements from other WSYSA sanctioned tournaments will be enforced at this tournament.

 

RULES AND SCEDULES MAY BE SUBJECT TO LAST MINUTE CHANGES. IT IS

SUGGESTED THAT YOU MAKE ALL PLAYERS, COACHES AND SPECTATORS AWARE OF

THESE RULES. TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE OR HAVE

REMOVED ANY PARTITICPANT DISPLAYING ANY DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
